This past season was one of the best in cheerleading for Oviedo Pop Warner. All the girls and their coaches, jr coaches, team moms were amazing and had an awesome year.

Tribute letter for Coach Cora sent to the Orlando Sentinel - Coach Cora passed away from Cystic Fibrosis on December 24, 2009 - she will always be missed and will never be forgotten ......
Hi Sara – I am the cheer coordinator for Oviedo Pop Warner and have known Cora since she started coaching with our league three years ago Cora had helped coach at another Pop Warner League and moved to our area, going to UCF when she emailed me and asked if there were any positions available to coach in Oviedo. After attending all of our meetings and going through all the training she became an assistant coach for our Pee Wee Team. The following season she moved up with the same group of girls to the Junior Midget team. That same year, after the season ended she had her lung transplant which did not stop her from coaching. As soon as she could get her hands on a computer she emailed me asking if her coaching position was still available. She expressed her love for the girls and wanted nothing more than to be able to coach again. She coached that season with the girls taking 1st place in the Chancy Cheeroff Competition. This year the girls moved up to the Senior Midget Team where she was a rostered assistant coach. However, her sickness stopped her from actually being able to be at practice on a regular basis, eventually causing her to be in the hospital. This did not stop her from wanting to coach. She attended everything she could with the girls, even having to use her oxygen to get her through it. The team actually took 2nd place at the Mid Florida Competition and 5th place at the Regional competition with her ever loving guidance and support.
Cora taught the girls, not only the skills of cheerleading, but compassion and love that is often not learned at such a young age. During her hospital stay, these same girls visited her in the hospital, brought her cards, posters, pictures and even her coaches shirt to hang up to remind her how much they missed her. After learning that she was too sick to ever come out of the hospital, the girls visited her, hugged her and said their goodbyes. Although as heartbroken as they were, the girls attended her Celebration of Life, in their cheerleading uniforms to help pass out her picture and the programs for the service. Through their tears they were able to stand up and tell everyone at the Celebration about their special times and memories of Coach Cora.
Cora Hill was and still is an amazing inspiration to everyone that has ever met her. Oviedo Pop Warner along with all of us that she has touched will never be the same and will always be missing that special person that came in and out of our lives too quickly yet with an amazing amount of grace and love that will never be forgotten.
